Post Op visit

OK, so I am officially 3 weeks out and had my first post-op visit with Fuzz (Dr. Fernandez) today. I believe things went well. I saw Dr Smith (psych) and Amber (nutri) as well. According to them I am 27lbs down from my last pre-op visit. I have been officially cleared on all foods. Amber suggested that I begin trying shredded lettuce, veggies, fruits with no peel, and.......no more pureed!!!!!! Yipee!!! She said to incorporate nuts, popcorn, and such last. Also I have to wait another week or two before trying breads, rice and pasta. As of yet I haven't missed the rice or pasta. The bread..yes a few times. Oh well....Dr's orders!

Git R done

So today was a successful day of errands with the children. I managed to take them to breakfast, take them to play on the playground, AND buy groceries by lunchtime! GO me! I"m finally getting some energy back (thanks to my protein and vitamins) and I am sleeping a heck of a lot better. Granted, I am going to bed at midnight.....but the sleep I DO get is restful and deep! Here lately I was having issues with this crap of waking up every few hours and not being able to fall back asleep for awhile. Soft foods are progressing fairly well. Not too sure what happened to me today while at Chick-fil-a....I got a small cup of chicken salad and after about 8 small bites I got this rumbling from down below. I was so excited I wanted to cheer!!! Diarrhea!!! Yipee! Maybe I'm nuts, but this recent constipation has been killing me! Of course I'm a person that has umm NEVER been constipated before. I am not sure if it was the chicken salad (approved for me so long as it's well ground, and it was) or what happened? Bring it on is all I'm saying!

Gotta use a quote that a fellow blogger (Eggface) used : see below. Peace out!

I hate Nerf guns...

OK , maybe hate is a strong word..I really DISLIKE Nerf guns! My two children wanted them the other day, so the hubby complied and purchased them matching Nerf guns and ammo. ( Can you say not a smart idea?) So today while the husband is at work I get to listen to "who shot who in the head", "who has more darts than who" etc. You can imagine! Tomorrow we will be going to the summer clubhouse movies at the local cinema. That will keep them calm for a few hours.

I am healing fairly well (no pain meds needed anymore) Yipee! I have a slight infection in one of my incisions. but not uncomfortable. Last night we ventured out to a local pizza buffet and the hubby and kids had pizza. I had the cheese off of 2 small pieces of pizza and that was enough for me. The diet for the past week (pureed/soft foods) has consisted mainly of soft scrambled eggs with cheese, egg salad, finely ground beef with pizza sauce and mozz cheese, finely ground chicken salad, Wendy's chili, refried beans, yogurts and applesauce. I will be trying crab meat salad, shrimp salad, and roast beef hash (thanks Shelly  http for this idea) this week for a change. No vomiting at all yet and hopefully none in the near future. I have a mild panic attack if I think I'm going to vomit. So, um no plans of this in the near future! :O)://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/

1 week

Ok, so I am officially one week out from surgery. woop woop! I have very little pain, but the thought of having to put food in my mouth is just ugh! I have transitioned today to pureed/soft foods (which I thought I would enjoy) but it's not what I thought it would be. I have to remind myself when to eat, when to drink protein, and when to take my vitamins. Maybe after a few more days I will have a wee bit more of an appetite.

The first day of the rest of my life

Pain. That's my first thought upon waking up. Then again, I believe that's pretty much any one's first thought when coming out of anesthesia. Unless you're one of those people who dream of dancing purple elephants. Not me. Pain was first on my brain. Second, I would have to say is regret. Thinking to myself "What the heck did I get myself into?"

After a few days to reconsider things, I am doing much better (now that my pain is better controlled) and I am on my feet moving. All is expect is that each day is better than the last.

Ready or not...

Well, tomorrow is the big day! (Can I just say....finally!) Today has been a very l-o-n-g day of pure liquids and I have never been as tempted to sneak a bite or two in ....but I didn't. I am proud of myself in how far I've come and the progress that I have made. I believe it will be worth it if most of my health issues resolve or drastically improve as an outcome. I take more medication than my grandparents combined! Well, I'm pretty sure I won't get any sleep tonight, but I hope to get the best 3 hours of sleep in my life tomorrow gracias to anesthesia! :0) See you on the flip side!
